How It Works

Massage Chair Store has partnered with Sika Health to help you use your HSA or FSA benefits. If you qualify to receive a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from your healthcare provider, you’ll be able to pay with your HSA/FSA funds or be reimbursed for your massage chair purchase by your provider. Just follow these simple steps:

1

 SELECT AN LMN-ELIGIBLE PRODUCT

Just add a product to your shopping cart. If it’s eligible for FSA or HSA payments, you’ll be able to select SIKA as a payment option at checkout.

2

SELECT SIKA AS YOUR PAYMENT OPTION AT CHECKOUT

At checkout, select Sika as your payment option. You’ll be prompted to complete the LMN form and then submit the payment request.

3

ON APPROVAL, YOUR ORDER IS COMPLETE

We handle the rest. We’ll submit your request and, once the LMN is approved, your order will be automatically processed.

Your massage chair purchase may be HSA/FSA eligible if you experience the following:

  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis
  • Chronic Headaches
  • High Blood Pressure

  • Back Pain

FAQs

  • What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?

An LMN, or Letter of Medical Necessity, is like a doctor’s note. It’s issued by a healthcare provider to outline the medical reasons why a particular product or service is medically necessary for an individual’s health. The LMN qualifies your purchase as HSA/FSA eligible by demonstrating that an expense is needed to diagnose, treat or alleviate a medical symptom, rather than for general health or wellness purposes.

  • Why do I need a Letter of Medical Necessity to purchase a massage chair?

If you want to use your HSA/FSA funds to purchase a massage chair, you’ll need a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), which is why we’ve partnered with Sika to help you with this process.

Certain products are eligible for purchase with HSA/FSA funds if they treat, cure, prevent, diagnose or alleviate a medical need. For instance, items such as adhesive bandages are always eligible, as they serve a solely medical purpose. However, there are “dual-eligible” products that can be used for general health and wellness or specific medical purposes if recommended by a healthcare provider based on your individual needs. While massage chairs can be used for general relaxation, the massage treatment they provide can also alleviate certain pains and chronic conditions.

  • How do I get a Letter of Medical Necessity?

Choose Sika as your payment method to use your HSA/FSA at checkout for your qualified purchase. You’ll fill out a quick survey to tell Sika’s provider team about your qualifying symptom(s). Once you’re approved, Sika will email your receipt and next steps for substantiation.

  • How long does it take to get approved for a Letter of Medical Necessity?

Our healthcare provider team strives to respond within 12 business hours after you submit your LMN intake forms.

  • What information will I need to provide for a Letter of Medical Necessity?

To see if you’re a candidate for a Letter of Medical Necessity, similar to other telehealth experiences, you’ll be asked to share your name, contact information, date of birth and information about the symptoms you are experiencing and your medical history. We will also verify your phone number and ask you to upload a photo ID to verify your identity.

The information you provide in the LMN process will be kept confidential and shared only with our healthcare providers to evaluate your eligibility for an LMN. For more information, see our privacy policy.

  • How long is a Letter of Medical Necessity valid for?

Letters of Medical Necessity are valid for 12 months from the day they are signed and written.

  • How do I submit my Letter of Medical Necessity to my HSA/FSA provider?

After you complete a purchase using an LMN, you will need to submit your Letter of Medical Necessity and your receipt to substantiate the purchase if you paid with your HSA/FSA or to get reimbursed if you paid with your credit/debit card. To do this:

    1. Log into your HSA/FSA account on your benefit administrator’s website
    2. Find the Reimbursement or Claims section
    3. Upload your receipt and Letter of Medical Necessity

Your administrator will process and evaluate your claim. Please note that some HSA/FSA benefits administrators may incorrectly deny reimbursement, so before purchasing a product with an LMN, you should consider contacting your administrator to determine if your purchases will be covered/reimbursed. You can learn more about eligible purchases and expenses here.

If you are having trouble locating your itemized receipt or LMN, please contact Sika at [email protected]

  • Why wasn’t I approved for a Letter of Medical Necessity?

Sika’s independent healthcare provider may determine that you do not have symptoms demonstrating a medical necessity for a product or service. While you cannot use your HSA/FSA funds or apply for reimbursement, you can still use another payment method to complete your purchase on our site. We do not recommend reapplying.

  • Can I check out with Sika if I’m purchasing an ineligible item along with an eligible item?

Yes! For mixed baskets, when you select the “Sika | Pay with HSA/FSA” payment method at checkout, your cart will automatically be split into eligible and ineligible subtotals. You can then add the appropriate payment method to each subtotal to complete the checkout process.

  • I don’t have enough funds on my HSA/FSA card to cover my entire purchase. Can I still checkout with Sika?

Yes! Similar to mixed basket checkouts,  if you do not have enough funds on your HSA/FSA card, Sika will charge the available balance and allow you to provide a backup credit or debit card to handle the rest of the purchase.
